From Genesis to Esther which were Seventeen Books was about the nation and the Hebrew Race and are historical and how Gods divine intervention directly shown to them with Mosaic Laws and covenants to keep in order to be saved and that Davidic Covenant eventually brings forth Jesus as our Savior. Next Five Books are Poetic in nature and it is experiential and shows the human heart. However the first two chapters of Job is not poetry but a prologue of history. and final eleven verses are historical epilogue. Job honored God and still the trouble came. This shows that not all our trials spring from personal wrong doing.
Chapters 1-2 Prologue-
In the prologue the book of Job addresses the question why people of God suffer, and Job does not hear the conversation that has gone on in heaven between Satan the accuser and God.
Chapters 3-42:6 Dialogue chapter 38-41 God s closing intervention. The main body of the book is in dramatic form in three successive rounds.
We have a group of older men giving advise to Job why these things are happening to Job . They did not know God`s reasoning and theorizing in the dark. Job was not meant to know the reason and the message is Blessings through suffering. There are six speakers: Job,Eliphaz,Bildad,Zophar,Elihu and God.
Chapter 42:7-17 Epilogue Jobs proven integrity, friends were rebuked,God spoke wrath upon the three friends because they had done as much damage to Job as Satan did. God transforms through accepting Job “him will I accept”,vindicates saying “My servant” few times and restores with family and everything else twice as much and he prospers.
The scripture clearly shows us that Job suffered from Satan’s attack and not from a retribution for his sins. Throughout the early part Job trusts in the Lord then in chapter 3;23 he begins to waver. As a result he begins to loose his peace. Jobs three friends come and discuss why and how Zophar speaks and says you might fool us with your protests of purity but you cant fool God and Zophar insists that good things happen to good people and disasters afflict the wicked. Job reply’s not always. In Chapter 13 Job denounces the simplistic answers his friends propose. Job turns to God in an angry, frustrated prayer. In Chapter 14 Job muses about his ongoing misery as he longs for death and prays honestly to God. Eliphaz uses sharper words as he confronts Job the second time with accusations of sin so Jobs doubts escalates to the point he believes that God hates him. Then Bildad speaks for the second time. He theorizes about god s ways are like those of his friends, rooted in fear and in spiritual pride. Job is overcome from isolation from God and others nevertheless moves from despair to the higher ground of faith in the Redeemer. Job complains he was wronged by God but affirms that resurrection of the body and life everlasting.that is he would live for ever because of his redeemer. In his pain Job finally settles on God s will. It was Satan’s doing . God brings Job safely through suffering and God uses Satan’s scheme of hatred for Jobs ultimate good. Even in his fear Job clings to this. As the Holy spirit works on Job he begins to see his limits of ability to understand God way. He examines his heart for specific sins . He cries out to heaven for court of justice because he believed God is Just. When Job finished everything he had to say then God begins to heal and help. In his emptiness, Job is finally ready for Lords gracious help. Elihu Jobs fourth comforter talks about his present attitude which had changed him because of his suffering and continues to present our Lord and his dealings with us and highlight the aspect of God`s Character.
Finally God speaks through a whirlwind and brings to a climax what man could do and cannot solve. He talks about the power of God as compared to the littleness of man in relation to the earth, heaven and living beings and in relations to special cases.
